An Exception Model for Policy-based Management using Specification-enhanced Policies

The dynamism and heterogeneity of pervasive systems necessitates a management system that automates enforcement of administrator and organization guidelines. Policy-based management, using Event-Condition-Action (ECA) rules, is a suitable approach in which rules dictate actions to be executed when specified events and conditions are observed. Actions in these rules may fail during execution due to programming errors, mistakes in rule specification or errors in the system.
